What’s the first impression you want to give people?
You’ll never get a second chance to make a first impression, so why not make sure the first one sticks. As a disabled person, that’s not the first impression you’ll ever get, because it’s not visible, and I don’t make it stand out. What I want people to notice about me the most is, that I’m never gonna give up, I’m never gonna stop being independent or at least trying to do so, I’m never going to stop doing what I do best, and that’s having fun with my business.
See, I’ve always told ya’ll that as an Epileptic patient you sit and you think a lot of questions to yourself out of guilt, confusion, hurt, and just in general. “Who will still love me for me?” is always the main question. People say they’re there, go out with you, experience the lifestyle you live, and then as soon as something medical-wise needs to be done, they’re scared. Understand that I’m just as scared as you, two wrongs don’t make a right, and if there was anything I could do to change the times, I WOULDN’T. Hear me out, “You wouldn’t?”. Nope, I wouldn’t, because having Epilepsy helped me realize that I am stronger than I personally know. Not everyone gets up from a seizure, and attempts to walk, not everyone has a seizure and still attempts to focus on their business in the mix. So I think I’m doing pretty great.
Overall, this generation would say “Don’t sleep,” on me, which means don’t doubt my capabilities. I always tell you a disability doesn’t make you incapable. My first impression is the way I talk to you, the way my eyes and body language coincide with what I am saying. If I am talking about business, I stand on it, and it gets done. I want you to notice the almost 4 years’ worth of growth of my hair. It expresses the journey I’ve come along and the trials I have overcome. The “You can’t,” and “You won’t,” that was thrown around so freely when my back was against the wall. I slept in parks, seized in shelters, and walked the streets on nights when there was no reason to go outside. In those times, I learned something. I learned to become wiser, I learned it’s always somebody watching no matter what you think. What’s your first impression
