What daily habit do you do that improves your quality of life?
Each morning, I kind of have the same routine. I gotta have my Dunkin’ someway somehow, whether it be freshly made at home, or curbside pick up. I start my day with a daily affirmation that I taught my children during my years of teaching. “I am kind, I am brave, I am smart, I am strong, I’m hardworking, I am a leader, I am me.” This allows me to refresh my thoughts and eliminate the “Can’ts,” which are things I told myself I couldn’t accomplish within a certain amount of time.
The next thing I do is study my Calendar. Events, places to go, people to see, networking, birthdays, holidays, bills, and more. I decide on at least two things I am going to work on throughout the course of the day which then turns into completing everything I wanted to. I like to pace myself, but my brain has a complete mind of It’s own. It’s like “I’ve finished this, now let me get to that.” This improves my quality of life in many ways. Living with a disability such as Epilepsy is very dangerous. No seizure is promised to come back perfectly fine, I’ve had moments where I couldn’t write for a few days, muscle spasms, and random ticks. Going through this on heavy medication, still owning a business, and advocating to the world is the best improvement of my life.
My daily affirmation also reminds me that I’m not alone. Sometimes we just need to sit and remind ourselves who is there for real, and who is there just to say “I was there.” Smrt Grlz have come into the same inspiration of their own, which also inspires me. Not only do I get to see what they’re doing on a daily basis, I’ll soon be able to say “I am a part of the Smrt Grlz club,” and I’m very happy to join. It represents inspirational women empowerment and for the youth. Witnessing and being able to be a part of such groups add to the quality of my life. The more positivity around, the better and easier the day is. With that being said, come on down Saturday, September 23rd, and check out their new selection!
