What could I do differently? Nothing. If I reversed my whole life, I wouldn’t have learned the the things I did to become the person I am today. Life has taught me so much, that some things I wouldn’t have learned on my own if I didn’t trip on my own. You see if you have someone carrying you through your every step, you’re never gonna learn how to walk, and you have to crawl before you walk.
We can be honest, we’ve all fallen before and thought we had this or knew what we were doing, and we truly didn’t. How we got back up and continued pushing forward is how we learned to watch out for that stone during our walk, if you catch my drift. All of my falls got me to stand tall and proud of the person I am today. I see people in predicaments I used to question myself about, i’m not always able to save someone, but when they notice someone else sees “I’m trying to change,” it makes them want to go harder. Sometimes you gotta be the force behind the push, other times you have to let that person fall. There’s nothing wrong with being there from a distance. This is how I learned to stand on my own.
I used to depend on people to “be there for me,” but then I realized people have lives of their own, not everyone can handle what I do or go through on a daily properly, so I had to learn to stand on business. I went from sleeping in parks, and shelters, to staying in my own apartment. I went from the streets to getting people out of them because I’ve been there before. I went from writing in a notebook, to writing for others. I had to have some sort of belief to keep going, it’s tiring, yes it is. Tell me this: if I were to quit now and turn around and live the life I used to, would I be as successful? No. You start to see as you go through life who and what is for you, not everything is meant for everyone. What’s amazing is my city and others seeing what I was doing, and the name I created for myself began to travel. Merchandise became a factor, zoom meetings as an advocate became a factor, appearing on podcasts, show appearances, and hearing THESE blogs on podcasts began to happen. All because I did nothing differently. I took those lessons and turned them into blessings. I knew you believed in me too!
