“Overthinking”….

Daily writing prompt
Do you spend more time thinking about the future or the past? Why?

Everyone thinks in some way, shape, or form. Whether it be overthinking, preparing for something coming up, or remembering something, it’s all thinking. Sometimes, it’s about how you think, and why you do it. For example, I associate thinking about the past as a sense of thinking of memories of times you’ve enjoyed, or when something was better than what it currently is. I also associate thinking about the past with preparing to not make the same mistake continuously, so you’re basically comparing it to something you’re currently experiencing, thinking about what you don’t want to do to put yourself in the same predicament as the past.

Many can consider the above as overthinking, as I always do myself. I consider it a form of preparation for anything that can be thrown your way. With everything I do such as finances, friendships, relationships, college, and whatever else, I constantly think. I am planning on my next move, what needs to be done, or what could have been done to change something. I’m also looking at forms of repetition if something keeps repetitively happening, that means there is some sort of solution to change that or keep it going depending on its impact on your life or situation. Do you want it to continue and positively progress, or do you want to put something to an end? I’m always looking for a “plan b,” for my initial plan in case something goes wrong, or I want it to progress. It’s called being prepared, that way when something happens, you already know how to go about it in the best way needed. So I guess we can say I spend more time thinking about the future, but I dwell on the past a lot in certain scenarios. That’s never a bad thing, readiness is always great. Like selling a product, you want to make sure you know everything about that product, that way when customers ask many questions, you’re already prepared with the answer to give.
