I was once told that a woman is one of the Earth’s most powerful Gems to have been placed on this earth. Just the fact that they can reproduce let alone carry another human being inside of them for 9 months. Women are very valuable and should treasure, cherish, love, however you’d like to say it, each part of their body. Shit I know I do. Except the week when I’m bent over praying asking God to forgive me for whatever I did  to have to feel a cramp so bad. I didn’t even know a pain existed until I 1st got my period and then when I got my cysts. Was really praying for myself and anybody else going through anything.

I was sitting down looking over my poems thinking of who I’ve learned about in school, and who inspired me the most. I’ve learned of Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, Emily Dickinson and such; but my favorite poet of all times was Maya Angelou. Not because of her race, although I was able to connect with her a lot more, but because of her flow. For example, one of my favorite poems of her’s was always (“Still I Rise”). (Click link to watch).

“You may shoot me with your words,

You may cut me with your eyes,

You may kill me with your hatefulness,

But still, like air, I’ll rise.”

Taught that poem in English class, but it never left my thoughts. The flow of how she reads it, you actually feel what she’s saying. I guess I love her poem’s more because for the most part, she’s definitely expressing feelings through writing, and it’s something I can connect to. Another one, I know we’ve all seen from Madea’s Family Reunion (“In and out of time”) (click link to view). I’ve even practiced reading the poem myself just because of the feeling I get when doing so. Poetry is a very amazing expression, VERY.
