What Makes you, YOU!

Which aspects do you think makes a person unique?

We all walked different paths in the same shoes, different sizes, which means we haven’t all been through the same exact thing. That’s what makes you, you. How you handle the situation and continue to push forward from whatever it is that is blocking your path. What makes you different is not following behind others and old ways. As we get older, we don’t realize that time waits for no one, it’s literally a survival mode out here. Things are happening that were “predicted,” or said before so we should have taken heed when said.

What makes me unique is the fact that I have my own style, my own flow, and my own way of coping with things. With a disability that affects the mind, I don’t let that overpower my dreams and goals. Everything I said will happen, will happen. When I was a teacher, I would always hear from my preschoolers “Ms.Jessica, I can’t,” and I taught them at a young age that the word “can’t” doesn’t apply to anything that you are trying to do. Why? When you tell yourself that you can’t do something, you are forcing yourself to believe it, and then eventually you tend to give up. In the words of the late R&B Singer Aaliyah “‘Cause if at first you don’t succeed, you can dust it off and try again.”

I am my biggest cheerleader and your loudest clapper from behind and front. I can admit to my wrongs, learn from them, and make more right than wrong. I am able to lead and say I can do it, I keep pushing through whatever storm because the bible says “Though I walk through the valley and the shadow of death,” he didn’t say we were staying there. That’s what people forget, to grow through things, you have to go through it.
