Not Without Coffee! ☕️

Daily writing prompt
What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?

Everybody knows the day can never start correctly without coffee. It’s like a If I don’t have my coffee, don’t come to me with so much in the morning, kind of feeling. My mornings varies between the moods within my area, within my mind. What is my initial goal for today? Will this happen? It’s great to overthink because you’ve already planned ahead for the things you’ve expected, or “just in case,” scenarios.

Anywho, my coffee times are not always the same. Waking up is the hardest part of the day while being an epilepsy survivor. The medications can sometimes cause you not to want to do something and then you become demotivated. Seeing family around so welcoming and loving reminds me each day why I keep going. Kids are off to school, and once that’s done and settled, then it’s coffee time. Dunkin’ over Starbucks forever! It’s something about that blend in Dunkin’ that instantly wakes me up and no matter how tired I am, allows me to push through it. The next motive is to check my to-do list and complete all the necessary things needed to be complete. College is always number one, as I’ll have my bachelor’s as of May 2025! Even as a disabled person, I still complete the things they thought I couldn’t, or didn’t, with the biggest smile.

After a little bit of reorganizing, it’s time to take meds and get some rest before the kids come home. I sometimes will just lay with my eyes closed, or listen to music that concerns my daily thoughts. For some, it makes them think more of whatever they are thinking about, for me, it’s soothing. It’s like the author of the song really understands and can relate to you. I’ll eventually fall asleep when I can, and boom just like that, the kids are back!
