As a woman, self-care is very important. How can you take care of others if you haven’t taken care of yourself? This doesn’t always mean your physical appearance. It also includes your mental, and emotions. When you look good, you feel good. That’s like one of the main things that gives you some sort of motion to want to do something. Women are known for keeping the household together, especially with finances, everything that comes along with children, cleaning, cooking, and still carrying their personal weight on their shoulders of whatever they are dealing with that they simply push behind and keep going.
Mentally, that’s a lot for a woman, and when your mental isn’t good, it can start to have an affect on your physical appearance. Keeping your mental in check is very important. Sometimes, I find it easier for me when I re-twist my dreads because, not only do I feel good with ever re-twist knowing I’ve overcome a lot of things in the past, but I look good. I also study the word of God, I talk to him, and lay my problems at his feet trusting what he has in store for me. I know that a lot of the things I am going through is not only desired for me, but it’s also meant for me to grow through it. With pain comes strength, but it doesn’t always take pain to become stronger. I find writing as a part of my self-care, because it’s a way to just express myself in a different way.
Physically, I have started going to the doctor for many different check-ups, and to finally get some things done that I’ve been waiting for, such as fixing my teeth. Your physical appearance as a woman has an affect on how you feel about yourself, it coincides with your mental. Being able to be physically okay is very important because for some, once one thing isn’t okay, here comes another issue. That’s where it becomes an overload, yet soon as you start doing one thing for yourself, you want to do more. And to be quite honest, that’s okay to want to do more for yourself. Never feel like you’re being selfish, or you can’t do something for yourself. Tiredness comes from being drained, and overstimulated, but that one day for self-care can change the rest of the days to come. Everyone is very different, and that’s completely fine as well. All that matters is your self care.
